Inkcarceration returns to the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield from July 17 through 19 with a three-day heavy-music lineup led by Disturbed on Friday, Bad Omens on Saturday, and Limp Bizkit on Sunday.

The upper bill reaches across several generations of hard rock, metal, and rap-rock. Gojira, Papa Roach, A Day to Remember, Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills, Cypress Hill, The Used, Lorna Shore, Poppy, Machine Head, Jinjer, Hatebreed, and hometown act Starset are among the more than 60 artists listed by the festival.

A setting no standard festival field can copy

The Ohio State Reformatory does more than provide a dramatic skyline. Every festival pass includes admission to self-guided tours of the historic prison and access to the tattoo convention, folding the building directly into the weekend rather than leaving it as scenery behind the stages.

That relationship between place and programming is Inkcarceration's strongest distinction. The stone walls give the festival a visual language that fits the weight and theatricality of the bill while keeping the experience rooted in Mansfield.

Inkcarceration's identity comes from the collision of heavy music, tattoo culture, and a venue that no purpose-built festival ground could imitate.

More than a run of stage sets

Inside the reformatory, Tattoo X brings together more than 100 tattoo artists. The grounds also connect to Blood Prison, the site's haunted-house attraction, giving fans parallel experiences between performances.

The operational challenge is making those pieces feel like one event. When the prison tours, tattoo appointments, horror attraction, and music schedule work together, Inkcarceration becomes closer to a temporary heavy-music city than a conventional weekend concert.
